Abstract

Aim: Examine the AIDS prevalence rate Thi Qar and some important risk factors, also their behaviours after their diagnosis for this year Justification: A Topic of interest among our society, where it consider as a stigma, and to determine its rate and routes of spread of AIDS in our areas, whether through sex, the use of other tools, tattoos, blood transfusions, also to characterize the affected diseased groups. Methodology: a cross sectional study done in Thiqar all-over the 2022, A structured questionnaire was interviewed by experts, that focusing mainly about the risk assessment, sexual behaiviour of infected population, all steps of ethical consideration was taken. Results: among 500 adult interviewed and screened regarding their HIV infection during 2022, only 6 males and 2 females were positive, M:F ratio was nearly 1.06:1, 87.4% of the were single, with overall prevalence of 16/1000. Conclusion: The prevalence of HIV/ADIS in Nasiriya city was low, but it was comparable to that among many neighboring countries. It was low in both men and women, which might be considerable proportion of participants were ignorant of their disease. It was substantially more prevalent among men. Although there has been a progressive rise in the yearly number of HIV infections over time, it comparable to Baghdad City, which remains in an area with a low HIV prevalence (0.1%), there might be a danger of exposure to an outbreak or epidemic/endemic if appropriate national strategy plans on HIV/AIDS are not implemented.
