Journal of surgery http://medicalresearch.be/index.php/js
Physicians specializing in surgery can choose to become general surgeons or pursue a subspecialty in a specific area of the body, type of patient, or type of surgery. General surgeons provide a wide variety of life-saving surgeries, such as appendectomies and splenectomies. Varieties of techniques are available for coverage of defect following contracture release. A Central axis propeller flap a strategy that used in patient with contracture deformities. It's a reliable method of reconstruction in release of axillary, elbow and popliteal region of knee joints contractures. Aim: evaluate of central axis propeller flap in wide joints post burn contractures release. Patients and method: Between October 2017 to May 2019 ten patients with wide joints post burn contracture ,their age range between(10-45)years .A central axis (propeller)flap based on random sub dermal pedicle of two design was used (rhomboid design for eight patients and Namaste design for two patients) by designed and elevated as a “propeller,” and then rotated by 90° to straddle the defect after contracture release. Result: Good functioning result in all patients indicated by good range of motion in affected joints and no serious complication ,only one case of superficial epidermal sloughing were managed conservatively. Conclusions: Central axis propeller flaps are reliable methods for surgical management of post burn contractures with good range of motion .However it used scary tissue ,a result appearance is cosmetically acceptable for those patients ,when the functions the primary concern.
Dr. Rabaab Abass Hasan Copyright (c) 2024 http://medicalresearch.be/index.php/js/article/view/72 Thu, 25 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Evaluation of using double Teostrut graft to control naral tip projection http://medicalresearch.be/index.php/js/article/view/74
Background: Dne of the key component of nasal tipplasty is effecter control of naral tip projection. Several cartilage grafts have been decreased for this purpose each had its own advantage and disadvantage. Aim: To evaluate using of double teostrut graft for controlling of tip projection. Patients and Methods: A total number of 170 patients were subjected to primary and secondary rhino plaster between January 2020 to January 2023. Those patients had double Teostrut banner graft for support of their nasal tip and maintaining tip projection after operation. Results: The follow period was ranging between 6-12 months. The shape of the nose was evaluating by patents vernal analogues scale. The average score for patients satisfaction was 8.2 out of 10 points which indicated high satisfaction rate. Conclusion: Our current approach using double Teostrut graft showed to be effective and predicted in maintaining of tip projection after operation using of double teostrut graft avoid potential complications that might be associated with single teostrut graft which namely rotation and distraction of graft which may lead to droop lay and lateralization nasal tip.
Dr. Muhammed Naeem Abdullah*, Dr. Rabab Abass Hasan, Dr. Yaser Ahmed Alatia, Assist.
