Journal of Infectious Diseases https://medicalresearch.be/index.php/jid
Journal of Infectious Diseases (JID) is the global journal for original research on infectious diseases. The editors welcome Major Articles and Brief Reports describing research results on microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, and related disciplines, on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases; on the microbes that cause them; and on disorders of host immune responses.
en-US editor@medicalresearch.be (Dr Thomas Berg) suoport@medicalresearch.be (Open Journal System) Fri, 04 Feb 2022 16:30:05 +0000 OJS 3.3.0.8 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60 Risk of invasive fungal infections and Molecular diagnosis of Pneumocystis pneumonia in immunocompromised patients https://medicalresearch.be/index.php/jid/article/view/9
Introduction: Hepatitis B core (anti-HBc) antibody is an effective marker for occult Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and is an integral part of blood donor screening in many countries. This study was aimed to evaluate the prevalence of anti-HBc antibodies among voluntary blood donors in Thailand and its significance to reduce the risk of transfusion transmitted HBV infection. Methods: Nasopharyngeal swabs were obtained, Neisseria meningitidis was identified by standard methods, Polymerase Chain Reaction, and penicillin susceptibility was carried out. Multilocus Sequence Typing was performed as well. The study included 461 inmates. The overall carrier frequency was 10.41%, serogroups were isolated: B (20), C (17), Y (8) and nongroupable (3) 70.8% (34/48) of isolates showed some level of resistance to penicillin.

Conclusion: New advances in the understanding of the role of Leis mania RNA virus (LRV) as a prognostic factor, speciation methods and antimicrobial resistance testing and their limitations will be discussed.
Michael Silva* Copyright (c) 2022 https://medicalresearch.be/index.php/jid/article/view/9 Tue, 01 Feb 2022 00:00:00 +0000 Coronavirus 2019 and health systems in response to COVID-19 in Sub-Saharan Africa https://medicalresearch.be/index.php/jid/article/view/10
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has hit the European region disproportionately. Many HIV clinics share staff and logistics with infectious disease facilities, which are now on the frontline in tackling COVID-19. Therefore, this study investigated the impact of the current pandemic situation on HIV care and continuity of antiretroviral treatment (ART) supplies in CEE countries. Cutaneous manifestation is a newly reported clinical manifestation of COVID-19 infection. The clinical description of cutaneous manifestation is still not fully described. Our patient, a medical person, had viral exanthem distributed in the extremities along with a “Spins and needles sensation,” which differs from a previously published paper on cutaneous manifestations. The differential diagnosis of drug-induced skin rash and hand-foot-mouth disease was ruled out based on the patient's previous history and course of the disease.
Aron sem*, Nathen broad Copyright (c) 2022 https://medicalresearch.be/index.php/jid/article/view/10 Tue, 01 Feb 2022 00:00:00 +0000
